Aveda Review
What is Aveda?
Aveda has developed their name around environmental responsibility. Their most recent anti aging line is known as the "green science collection", and of course all their ingredients are completely all natural and "botanical." But all of their ingredients have been studied against aging. Unfortunately, the only truly powerful anti aging ingredients we've seen tend to come from animal sources rather than "botanical" plant sources.
Ingredients and Mechanism of Action:
Aveda ingredients include argan oil, vitamin E, polyunsaturated fatty acids, glucosamine, buckwheat wax, peptides, and linoleic acid.
So they do use peptides, which are found only in animal type sources. But they have been proven to be some of the most effective ingredients in the fight against wrinkles. Unfortunately, peptides are a mass grouping. There are several individual peptides that have been proven truly effective in doing certain things such as increasing the skin's natural production of collagen and elastin, targeting the skin around the eyes, relaxing the muscles associated with facial contractions, etc. But we cannot be sure which ones Aveda uses, as they do not provide a full ingredients list, concentrations, etc. None of the other ingredients named really have any application.
Overall Impression of Aveda:
Aveda does not have any really impressive formula. The potentially great ingredients they have were masked under a generalized name. Realistically speaking, the named ingredients are not horrible. But we find ourselves more interested in what they are hiding than the little information they are willing to give out. Without more information, we definitely cannot recommend this product or any like it.
